SHAKING THE SIX DEMON BAG: Six (Well, Four) Extremely General Questions With Micah Harris

WHO ARE YOU AND WHAT’S YOUR DEAL?

Micah S. Harris, writer of fantasy, mashups, pulp, and quirky fiction. I’m a regular contributor to the anthology series Tales of the Shadowmen. My self-published novel The Eldritch NewAdventures of Becky Sharp projected Thackeray’s amoral heroine into a Lovecraftian universe. And, of course, there the collaborative novel I did with you Josh, Jim Anthony: the Hunters for Airship 27.

I’m also a historian of Hollywood’s lesser explored corners, such as the life of Schlitze the pinhead from the 1932 M.G.M. classic, Freaks.  I’m currently trying to place a novel I’ve written based on Schlitze’s life. Comics readers might know me from Heaven’s War, the 2004 Image graphic novel pitting the Oxford Inklings against Aleister Crowley. My most recent comics project, also for Image, was Lorna, Relic Wrangler.

WHAT’S YOUR CURRENT PROJECT?

Finishing up revisions on a new pulp novel yet to be announced.  I’m also preparing further comics projects with my collaborator, artist Loston Wallace who did sequential art for Lorna, Relic Wrangler, and the cover and inside illos for The Eldritch New Adventures of Becky Sharp. Also, I’m looking into publishing my first E-novel this year. It features some of the characters I’ve previously put into print but in a story unlike anything I’ve published before. It’s like a parallel universe for these characters.

WHO ARE SOME OF YOUR INFLUENCES?

Ray Bradbury, Philip K. Dick, David Lynch, Alan Moore, C.S. Lewis, Mark Helprin. In the pulp novel I’m finishing up, some of my passages recall Mark Helprin’s Winter’s Tale. I wrote my master’s thesis in literature on that book. They’re finally going to make a movie of it, featuring my favorite actress from Downton Abbey, Jessica Brown Findlay.

WHERE CAN WE FIND YOUR STUFF?
