WHO ARE YOU AND WHAT’S YOUR DEAL?

My name is Meddy LIGNER, I am French. I am living in Poitiers, city of western France.  I am teaching history, geography and French in high-school.

WHAT’S YOUR CURRENT PROJECT?

I am now finishing my first novel. The story follows two religious women in alternative Middle Ages, where Mongols dominate the world and where the future can be predicted by shamans and gypsies.

I am preparing also an album for kids. I have written the story, my brother did the music, and a friend is making the illustrations.

WHAT ARE SOME OF YOUR INFLUENCES?

I am a big fan of Robert Silverberg and David Lynch.

I am also influenced by my European culture (French comics, Italian and French cinemas…) and globally by European avant-garde: German expressionism, French surrealism…

Moreover, I am very influenced by Eastern Europe. I lived in Russia and it had a big impact on my personality. Every year, I go to eastern countries and I like their cultures…
